New Druid....

Howdy

I have my 80 hunter in guild, but after getting him to 80 and running heroics etc, I decided I wasn't really into the play style. So I have re-rolled a druid, named "Kiwidrood".

Level 30 so far, and having a great time. I figure I will enjoy the lvling experience as feral (just so I can kill fast), and then respec and gear up for resto once 80, with a dual-spec into tank. Not that it really matters, I've got 50 more levels to get.

Resilience and Bear Tanks?

Read a post recently about resilience for bear tanks and some bosses in Ulduar, especially Thorin. Since bears already have the def cap with talents, can stack resilience gear and get crit immunity.

Drink potions in bear form

Patch 2.3 gave druids the ability to cancel their druid form with no trigger of a global cooldown. What that means is that you can basically instantly shift from one form to another as long as you don't have the global cooldown in effect from some other talent you just used (like lacerate).

What this really means for bear tanks is that you now have a mechanic to drink potions or use healthstones.

Slok, here's a bit from the druid wiki...

Hence you need 5,6% reduced crit chance when tanking level 73 mobs/bosses. When you put your tanking gear together, make sure that together with the Survival of the Fittest talent and Defense and Resilience rating you end up with at least 5,6% less chance of being critted. This will make you immune to crits in PvE.

415 Defense nets that. (156 defense) or 103 resil will do the same thing. Or a combination of the two to be over 5.6%...

Anyone ever run balance spec in arenas? Have any luck with it? I'm up to ~500 dmg/healing with the pve gear I've picked up, but tempted to spend some banked honor pts on a few of the oomkin epic pieces to help that out a little. I've been tempted though to try it out in our 3v3 matches. Feral just isn't doing it for me in arenas. I'm hoping I can DPS/heal/CC reasonably well running around as balance but not in Moonkin form (unless melee is beating on me).

I'm def. specc'd for damage. I am soon switching a few talents out of damage into some more PVP baseed talents, but I prefer to be a feral cat druid owning up the Shred with mangle...

As noted before, I've respec'ed a couple of times to resto to heal runs as need be and I must admit I'm luke warm on my happiness on how the talent tree leads us.

That being said, who would actually switch over to a resto build if the guild needed healers?

I would probably switch over and try it, although in the end, if the guild really needed healers, I'd honestly probably level up a priest.

Well, they nerfed us to heck, and then as a token, gave mangle a 50% threat buff.

Anyone do any instance tanking last night and get a feel for how badly the changes effect tanking?
